Contact: Art Ritter (o2behiking@yahoo.com). This hike is less than 7 miles, but almost none of it is level. We will do an out and back, with a decent of 1,600 feet on the hike out and then ascending 1,600 feet on the way back, all on the Patterson Ridge Trail. Because of the elevation gain, I am calling the hike “strenuous.” Contact me if you want to come. Departure time from the Oilville Park and Ride is 7:30 Thursday the 21st. The hike is limited to 12 people. Because we will hike to Big Run, no one will need to carry more than a liter of water, but bring a filter or other treatment. It won’t be as cold Thursday, but you should still layer up! I am also thinking of doing the Simmons Gap Fire Road West on the way out if people want to get a few more miles. That hike is 1.5 miles each way, out and back. We’ll see how people feel. Contact me if you’re interested in coming along.
