Bill Tennant (Willyten10@aol.com or (804) 282-0590) Ever want to hike on ODATC’s section of the Appalachian Trail or visit the shelter that ODATC built and maintains? Here’s your chance. We’ll start at the North end of our section at Afton Mountain and hike 5 miles on the AT down to the shelter. We’ll have lunch at the best shelter on the AT, and then hike back up to the starting point. Total elevation change down to the shelter is about 500 feet. No need to contact me (unless you have questions), just be ready to leave the Oilville Park and Ride (at exit 167 on Interstate 64 west of Richmond) by 8 on Saturday morning. We should be back at Oilville about 4. Bring water, lunch and your sunniest disposition. No unleashed pets or overindulged children.
