This hike is part of the SNP500 Series of hikes (more on it later). The hike is the second of the hikes in the vicinity of Little Devil Stairs in the Northern Section of the Shenandoah National Park. It will be ~10 miles with ~1,600’ of elevation gain but will not be climbing in the Little Devil Stairs ravine. The Little Devil Stairs vicinity has a number of different trails and previous hike in the series, #18, did climb the ravine recently.
The SNP500 Series of hikes has been put together for those who might be interested in doing all the trails in the SNP. It started as a documentation of a systematic approach to doing all the trails while maximizing the loops and minimizing out-back hikes. For those who complete all 500+miles, there is an attractive patch. There is also a spreadsheet available that lists all trails, mileage, etc. to assist in tracking progress.
Contact Ted Nelson at Theodore.nelson@yahoo.com for more information on the hike. There will be limit on the number of hikers as there is very limited parking at the various trailheads. Last weekend, several of us did Hike #18 and there were at least 30 or 40 cars parked along the roads with us ending up ¼ miles away.
