Rip Rap Trail A-2 (9.8 Miles - with an optonal 1.8 mile out and back)
The last Walk and Wine was 'Legend'-ary, and you can expect more of the same with this installment, as we hike one of the more popular circuit hikes in Shenandoah National Park.
We will start at the Rip Rap parking lot and hike the Appalachian Trail North to the Rip Rap Trail. From there it is on to the breathtaking views at Calvary and Chimney Rocks. We then decend towards the stream. The recent rains should make this park of the hike a lot more scenic than normal.
We will break for lunch at a lovely swimming hole, before beginning our decent back up along the Wildcat Ridge Trail. We will then use the AT to head back to our cars.
Following the hike, we will visit one of the wineries in the area to sample their their goods.
Please note that due to recent rains there may be several 'wet' water crossing - crocs, sandles or some other water shoes are recommended.
We will meet at the Rockville/Manakin Park n Ride on I 64 just west of RT 288 at 7:00 am. A gas donation of $10 is requested.
