Virginia Blue Ridge Rail to Trail, Nelson County
Ted McGarry (218-1238) This is my second ODATC hike on this new rails-to-trail about 2 hours west of Richmond. The former railroad bed has minimal elevation change and the valley and river views are best before foliage appears. We will hike along the Piney River to the bridge at Naked Creek and return for a total of 8 miles. Bring water and lunch on the trail. A porta-pottie is available part way in. There will be a carpool. You must phone me not earlier than March 10 and before 9:00 PM Thursday March 17 to go on this trip. The number of hikers is limited to 12. www.traillink.com/ViewTrail.aspx?AcctID=6017586.
