April 8 (Wednesday) Work at Presquile National Wildlife Refuge

Day of the week correction!

As you may be aware we had a great crew signed-up to once again work at Presquile National Wildlife Refuge earlier this month.  Rightfully, they canceled the event due to rain and the potential fro rough boat ride to the refuge.  Cyrus Bane, from US Fish and Wildlife Service has once again asked for the assistance of Team ODATC at Presquile National Wildlife Refuge.  This is a wonderful opportunity to visit this beautiful 1,329 acre island refuge in the James River.

Cyrus asked that I offer the membership a weekday option of Wednesday, April 8th, 9am-2pm.  He understands that the number of participants may be smaller, but he can work with that.  He would greatly appreciate the help.  Projects will include: tree nursery prep, painting, building / facilities maintenance, and landscaping.

He asks that participants be at the ferry landing (4800 Bermuda Hundred Road, Chester, VA) at 8:45AM to sign in and board the boat which will depart at 9:00AM.  Please be prepared to work as well as have fun.  Dress for the weather.  Be sure to wear long pants and substantial shoes or boots.  Consider sun screen if it is sunny and be sure to bring gloves.

If you are interested please contact me no later than March 27th at 804-928-8757 or at off2themnts@gmail.com.

Thanks,
Mark Heede
