David Grimes - Hike is canceled due to adverse trail conditions. We will attempt to reschedule it in the near future.
Overall Falls - Beecher Ridge circuit passes one of the largest waterfalls in Virginia and the tallest waterfall in SNP (93 feet). In the dead of winter ice climbers may be seen on the frozen falls. If the spring thaw is early the falls can be magnificent. We'll leave from the Rockville park and ride at 6:30 a.m. in hopes of being on the trail by 9. This is about a 5 -6 hour hike (10 - 11 miles) with some very steep pitches (900 feet in one mile). The Beecher Ridge portion of the hike can be a little rugged at times but with the leaves being off the trees the views should be good. We'll plan to stop on the way back for a bite to eat. Should be back to Rockville about 7 p.m. Email me at dvgrimes.54@gmail.com if you want to sign up for this hike. In keeping with Leave No Trace guidelines the hike is limited to 10.
